Joint and bone pain causes a lot of trouble to most us. Whether it is dealing with problems caused by arthritis or an injury caused from sports, bone and joint pains can make even the easy tasks to be very painful. Most people usually takes aspirin and it might work or not depending on the pain you are experiencing. Instead of taking aspirin you might want to try one of the following home remedies that relives bone and joint pain.

  1. Getting enough movement and exercise. Stiff muscle caused by inactivity can result to joint pain or can worsen conditions of arthritis. Tension in your leg muscle for example can be responsible for adding stress on your knees and hips. Weak muscles usually contribute to high risks of getting injured. If you exercise regularly you will strengthen and stretch the affected joints which will improve circulation and in turn reduce your joint pain. Exercising will also help you keep your weight in check and it will also improve your chances of staying active without any pain. If you are experiencing a lot of pain you should try low-impact exercises such as swimming, cycling, yoga, walking, and water aerobics among other exercises. Burst training exercises are the best because you can do them anywhere and they won’t take much of your time. Start small as you continue to increase the flexibility of your exercises. When you are starting the exercises consider wearing a wrap around the aching joint. You might want to consider your physical therapist before beginning the exercises.
  2. Epsom salt soak. One of the best home remedies for joint pain is using Epsom salt while taking bath. The high levels of sulfates and magnesium are absorbed quickly into your body and they are a quick relief to pain. The magnesium and sulfates lower inflammation, relaxes the tense areas as well as reduce muscle spasms. Add 2 cups of Epsom salt to the warm water you are going to use and soak for 20 minutes or more. Alternatively you can add two cups of Epsom salt in warm water, soak a piece of cloth and then use the cloth to massage your affected joints. Adding some essential oils to your Epsom salt bath is recommended but the oil you add depends on what is causing your pain.
  3. Hot and cold packs. This is also a very effective remedy for joint pain relief. Apply a hot therapeutic pack on your aching joints for at least 20 minutes and immediately follow up with a cold pack for at least 20 minutes. If you can’t withstand the heat or cold for 20 minutes, then you can apply for 15 minutes. If it is possible, apply hot and cold packs every morning and you will notice significant relief of your joint pain. If the area is swelling bad, then keep the area elevated in order to reduce fluid retention.
  4. Weight loss. Being overweight especially, causes unnecessary strain to your bones and joints. If you are suffering from conditions such as osteoporosis, then being overweight will accelerate your bone degeneration. Each pound of your body weight is equal to 3 pounds of added stress on your knees. Losing a few pounds will help ease your joint pain by reducing the pressure on your joints and it will also prevent future problems caused by being overweight. People who are obese or overweight have a lot of health issues. Aim at losing at least 8 percent of your body weight and you will notice significant relief in pain.
  5. Olive oil. Massaging your aching joints using olive oil at least twice a day will significantly reduce your joint pain. Leave it for some time to be absorbed into your body for it to take effect. You can also decide to take olive oil orally and it will relieve your joint pain. One teaspoon of olive oil is equal to 200 milligrams of ibuprofen. Don’t heat the olive oil when using because the heating process might destroy the much-needed healthy nutrients.
  6. Take the right supplements. There are some supplements that you can take in order to improve your bone strength. The supplements include nutrients such as calcium, glucosamine, magnesium, and vitamin D.
